CLASSES

 
INTRO TO DANCE:
For the littlest dancers. Come join us for fun creative movement that incorporates basic ballet with an introduction to dance terminology and choreography. 


BALLET 1:
Implements primary foundational elements and  technical platform for the beginning ballet dancer

ages 6-8.

BALLET 1/2:
The next level for the dancer who has taken a minimum of 1 year of ballet technique, and is age 8-11.


BALLET 2:
The next level for dancers ages 9-14, who have taken a minimum of 2 years of ballet technique.


HIP HOP 1/2:
A high energy class filled with dynamic choreography.

HIP HOP 2/3:
The next level up for dancers ages 9-14 that have had prior hip hop training.


JUMPS & TURNS:
This class incorporates a technical warm up, which is followed by focused progressions across the floor with a variety of jumps and turns.

Dance Vision offers fun and inspiring recreational classes, as well as the opportunity to train pre professionally for those wishing to pursue a career in dance.  Dance Vision alumni can be seen in many films, in commercials, on music videos, touring the world with music artists, Disney Tokyo, Harry Potter World, television shows, NY City Knicks Dancers, Golden State Warrior Dancers, Laker Girls, Blazer Dancers, U of O dance teams, and Beaver Cheer.

 STYLE DESCRIPTIONS:

 

Ballet

Beauty, flow and elegance are inherent in the elements of ballet. Ballet is the classical dance form that can be mastered by itself or used as a technical base or supplement to other dance forms. Classes focus on overall body alignment and awareness with emphasis on proper usage of feet and legs and execution of turnout. Carriage of upper body and arms are also a primary focus. Traditional barre work, center work and combinations are included in all classes.

 

 

Pre-dance/Intro to Dance

The class encourages free expression while teaching the basic foundations of dance, including rhythm, movement quality, space, body awareness, and shape.  Dancers are introduced to the mechanics of turns, balance, leaps, picking up choreography, and the knowledge base needed to progress to beginning/advanced beginning ballet and jazz classes.  The child’s imagination and self-esteem are encouraged and strengthened through dance.

 

 

Hip Hop

A high-energy class that uses the latest sounds in pop, R&B and sometimes rap.  Hip Hop movement encompasses movement that has elements of popping, locking, breaking, and freestyle movement that displays the dancer’s sense of style.  

 

 

Jazz

An exciting and ever evolving dance form full of rhythm, syncopation, passion, and life.   Classes incorporate body isolations of the head, shoulders, ribcage, feet, and arms.   Jazz encourages individual expression and personal style.    Classes teach basic jazz dance technique, terminology and movement quality with an emphasis on proper execution of turns, pirouettes, leaps, isolations, rhythms and style performed to contemporary music.

 

 

Contemporary

This class focuses on an expressive style which combines elements of jazz, lyrical, ballet and modern.  Versatility and improvisation are incorporated, as well as floor work.  Our contemporary classes are appropriate for dancers that have at least two years of experience.

 

 

Technique: Stretch & Strengthen

This class focuses on incorporating elements of cross conditioning for strength and explosive power, as well as proper muscle usage in all postural and mechanical elements of dance.   The class structure also incorporates center barre work with a focus on developing beautiful lines, turnout, proper usage of core and pelvis, balance, dynamic and static stretching.
